White Suits and Tuxedos
The wedding date is set, the venue is booked, and now it’s time to decide what you’re going to wear on the Big Day. After all, you’ll want to look just as amazing as your partner does when you tie the knot! Traditionally, the men of a wedding party wear either a wedding suit or tuxedo – but these days, just about anything is fair game. Some grooms even get married in jeans or shorts! If you need help deciding what type of formal wedding attire will work best for you, check out An Illustrated Guide to Choosing a Wedding Suit or Tux.
Although wedding suits and tuxedos come in a wide variety of colors and styles, a white suit or tuxedo is a popular color choice for grooms. This is due to several reasons. First, wearing white allows the groom to coordinate beautifully with his bride. Next, it is an excellent way for the groom to stand out from his groomsmen. Finally, wedding photos look simply fantastic when the white-clad couple is surrounded by bridesmaids and groomsmen wearing darker and/or brighter colors. There’s just one note of caution if you’re considering saying “I do” in a white suit – generally, white tuxedos are worn for formal events in hot and/or summer months only. So while they’re a great option for a tropical wedding, it may be more appropriate to go with black attire for a cold-weather, winter event.

About White Wedding Suits for Men
Whether you opt for a white tuxedo or any other color, you’ll need to choose a tuxedo jacket style (traditional, formal tails, or Mandarin/Nehru); a lapel style (notched, peaked, or shawl), a shirt collar style (wing, Mandarin, or spread); cuffs (one-button or French rounded); neckwear (bowtie, necktie, ascot tie, bolo tie, or Euro tie); and accessories (vest or waistcoat, suspenders, tie bars, cummerbund, and cufflinks). If you choose to wear a white suit instead of a white tuxedo, you can wear any standard men’s dress shirt.
Grooms can choose an all white tuxedo suit, just a white jacket, or white tuxedo accessories to match a bride’s white wedding gown. If you prefer a little more color pop on the men’s side of the aisle, you can always arrange for your groomsmen’s accessories to match the bridesmaid dress colors, wedding themes, and/or flowers. Be sure to discuss your preference for a white wedding suit or white tuxedo with your partner to find the most cohesive look for the entire wedding party. Your wedding photos (and your fiancee!) will thank you for it!
